Meet Michael

Michael Cook, an award-winning consultant, is a longtime veteran of public policy, public relations, and politics with experience in dozens of political campaigns and in state government.

A columnist for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette recently described Michael as a "hard-edged consultant", a reputation he's earned through winning the tough races.  Over the past eight years Michael has pulled off numerous upset wins.

In 2018, Michael was the consultant for underdog Eric Higgins for Pulaski County Sheriff campaign. Despite being outspent 2-to-1, Michael's tactics and strategy engineered one of 2018 big upsets that year in Arkansas's largest county.

Cook Consulting won a highly competitive Arkansas Court of Appeals race in 2016, despite being significantly outspent by the opposition. In the midst of the 2014  Republican tidal wave, his firm won the most expensive State House race in Arkansas history.

Michael helped lead the Arkansas Scholarship  Lottery Campaign which was a statewide ballot initiative approved by  Arkansas voters in 2008. He managed Bill Halter’s successful campaign  for Lt. Governor in 2006, the first time in 16 years that a Democrat won that office. Cook then served as Halter's Chief of Staff for four  years.

During his tenure as Executive Director of the  Democratic Party of Arkansas from 2001-2005, Michael helped revitalize  and reorganize the state party. Michael’s work earned him recognition by  the National Journal's "Hotline" as one of Arkansas's Rising Stars in  2003. The Arkansas Times proclaimed him the "Wizard of Voter Turnout" in  2004 when he served as the Arkansas Coordinated Campaign Director for  the Kerry-Edwards Presidential Campaign.

Michael is a contributing writer for Talk Business and his work has been featured in  numerous national media outlets. His former blog, Cook's Outlook, was named by the Washington Post as one of the best political blogs in  Arkansas.  Michael serves as film critic for television station KLRT-TV every Friday morning and as a political commentator on KARK-TV.

He was named by Arkansas Business to their prestigious “40 Under 40” list as one of the state’s emerging leaders. Michael is a member of Leadership Greater Little Rock, Class XXIV. Michael is a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves and holds a degree in history from the  University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
